overview

Magazine and membership network connecting diasporas across the Arab world, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

challenge

Makaani is a magazine, a membership and an introductions service at once, and all three had to run off one platform.

approach

A SvelteKit site over an Express and MongoDB API, a Next.js dashboard for the member, business and community portals, and a SwiftUI app for members. Applications arrive by form; membership is paid by transfer and approved by an admin.

outcome

Mentors, brands, restaurants, events and discounts share one directory, and each application and payment is approved without anyone touching the database.
