This policy explains what personal data Cairo Studio collects when you use cairo-studio.com or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors from anywhere, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the European Union.

Who we are

What we collect

Data you give us

• Project and collaboration inquiries: your name, email address, the reason you are writing, the service you are interested in, project details, timeline, budget range and your message.
• Career applications: your name, email address, phone number, the role and department, experience level, availability, portfolio link, cover letter and the CV file you upload.
• Client questionnaires: answers you give in a project questionnaire we share with you through a private link.
• Call bookings: your name, email address and the time you pick when you book a call through Cal.com.
• Email and messages: anything you send to us directly by email, phone or social media.

Data collected automatically

• Analytics: the pages you visit, the page that referred you, your browser, device type, screen size and approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address).
• Server logs: your IP address, browser user agent, the requested address and the time of the request. We keep these to run the site and protect it from abuse.
• Preferences: whether you chose the light or dark theme and whether sound is on, stored in your browser. See our cookie policy.

How we use it

• To reply to your inquiry, prepare a proposal and run a project with you.
• To review your job application and contact you about it.
• To schedule and hold calls you book with us.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it.
• To keep the site secure, prevent spam and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal basis

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 applies, we rely on:

• Your request or a contract: to answer inquiries, prepare proposals, deliver projects and process applications you send us.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, measure its use and improve it, balanced against your rights.
• Consent: where the law requires it, for example for analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligations: to keep records required by tax and accounting law.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the studio and the site, under agreements that require them to protect it:

• Resend: delivers the emails generated by our forms.
• Google Analytics and Umami: measure site traffic.
• Cal.com: handles call bookings.
• Prismic: hosts the content and images of this site.
• Our hosting provider: runs the servers that host the site and store inquiries.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the studio. We never share it with advertisers.

International transfers

Some of the providers above process data outside Egypt and the European Union, including in the United States. When we transfer data, we rely on safeguards the law recognises, such as standard contractual clauses, and we choose providers that protect data to a standard comparable to the law that applies to you.

How long we keep it

• Inquiries and messages: up to 24 months after our last conversation. If we work together, for as long as the project and the law require, typically up to 5 years for invoices and contracts.
• Career applications: up to 12 months after the role is filled, so we can contact you about future openings. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
• Analytics data: up to 14 months.
• Server logs: up to 90 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
• delete your data;
• restrict or object to how we use it;
• send your data to you or another provider in a portable format;
• withdraw consent you gave earlier.

Email hello@cairo-studio.com to use any of these rights. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority: in Egypt, the Personal Data Protection Center; in the European Union, the authority in the country where you live or work.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access and up-to-date software to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.
